Santa Surfs for Homelessness

Snow squalls and gale-force wind could not keeping this wave rider from hangin’ ten on Sunday December 21, 2008 during the 24th Annual Winter River Crossing! Surfing Santa, aka John Fulton waded into icy waters Sunday morning to surf across the Niagara River. This trip from Old Fort Erie to the Buffalo shoreline was in record time. The annual tradition first began in 1985 to promote a wind-surfing school and help the homeless. With the school long-since closed, Santa says he continues to tempt fate each December to encourage help for the less fortunate. Santa says it is not too late for you to visit your local homeless shelter or food bank with a donation.
