Behind The Photo: Hans Isaac's Sunset Session

Hans Isaac

The great thing about shooting on the water is that it is a really dynamic medium, changing all the time. Ever-changing conditions can lead to totally unexpected shots. This picture was taken at the end of a long session. The winds had become light and slightly offshore. The waves cleaned up with only a slight orange peel on the water and the swell was a clean southeast, making for long lefts and perfect inside bowl sections. I particularly enjoy this shot, where Hans is almost a silhouette against the backdrop of the mountains. To me this image embodies the simple pleasure of windsurfing. — Photographer Francis Brewer
