PWA Sanctions the IFCA Slalom World Championships

The 2005 Slalom World Championships, to be held July 22-30 in Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, is now sanctioned as a stop on the PWA Slalom 42 racing tour. This not only marks the start of the PWA racing season, but it is the first time slalom has appeared as a PWA discipline since 2000. The competitor list already includes such big names as Finian Maynard, Kevin Pritchard, Bjorn Dunkerbeck and Micah Buzianis.

PWA Tour Manager Rich Page says, “Fuerteventura is an incredible windsurfing location and it is ideal for competition. The record of succesful events there stretches back over two decades. We hope this is the first of many collaborations with other windsurfing organizations and a major stepping stone to greater unification within the sport.”
