The 2004 PWA, Catalunya, Costa Brava, Super X, World Cup

A formidable fleet that includes windsurf machine, Antoine Albeau (AHD, Neil Pryde) of France, American campaigner Matt Pritchard (Gaastra), the Jensen brothers (North) of the Canary islands, Brazilian renegade Kauli Seadi (AHD, Naish) and British sailors Robby Swift (Neil Pryde, JP), Nik Baker (Mistral, North) and John Skye (F2, Arrows) have registered today, ready for official competition which is due to commence tomorrow if conditions cooperate.

The Super X tour opened the PWA season with a kick ass start in Leucate in early April when Antoine Albeau (Neil Pryde, AHD) narrowly clinched victory over Matt Pritchard (Gaastra) and Robby Swift (JP, Neil Pryde) after ten high wind rounds. However, the un-predictable weather here in Costa Brava, could well mean racing in contrasting 6.2m – 6.8m conditions that may favor lighter sailors such as Douglas Diaz (Fanatic, North), Jonas Ceballos (Fanatic, Gaastra) and Yannick Anton of France.

This is the sixth year in succession the PWA world tour has visited Costa Brava and its excellent organization, incredible hospitality and beautiful location have made it well and truly a favorite stopover amongst the sailors.

Today the conditions have been wall-to-wall sunshine and moderate winds with the forecast currently calling for thermal breezes during the next few days with the possibility of stronger Tramontana winds arriving over the weekend.

As always the PWA website will bring you daily reports, pictures and results throughout the week, so stay tuned for all the updates.
