Take your first steps to learning how to windsurf. In this windsurfing how to, learn how to get up on the board and get the sail out of the water.
Step 1 With the board perpendicular to the wind and the sail downwind, grab the uphaul rope.
Step 2 With your feet on either side of the mast in an open stance, pull the sail toward you hand over hand. Lift it by leaning back.
Step 3 Stay steady with your knees bent and your back straight. Avoid making a big lunge to grab the sail.
Step 4 As the sail comes out of the water, it becomes lighter. Be careful not to fall backward!
Step 5 Move your back foot back on the board and reach for the mast with your front hand.
Step 6 Grab the boom with your back hand, and be sure to keep your chin up and look forward.

This was misinformative. I did not enjoy the demonstration as it was misleading and incorrect. When I taught my unicorn using your information, it fell in the water immediately. Unicorns are extremely allergic to salt water. it died instantly. YOU OWE ME A UNICORN!! it was a special one, too. it had wings and could ride a trycicle. find me one that does that!! you can’t!! because mine was UNIQUE and you killed it indirectly. i hope you can sleep at night. Good. Day.
This is good basic information on how to uphaul your Rig on the water. Also, here's a piece of information for "nubies" to Windsurfing, (like me) and others: You should get your Rig tilted Forward and to Windward, before you sheet in your sail… this always helps me get the board moving, also body position is really important for a successful start on the water. It helps to turn your front foot, your "forward" foot at a 45 degree angle so that it faces the mast base to help brace you, and to help resist the pull of the sail.
great put up, very informative. I ponder why the opposite specialists of this sector do not understand this. You should proceed your writing. I am confident, you have a huge readers’ base already!kinge Regards Thorsten
Thanks, I was looking for information and your blog really helped me.
