Feeling the need to pour on the speed? Check out this video introducing the 2010 Gaastra Vapor for some inspiration. In 2010 the Vapor features an inset clew for shorter boom length and a locked-in COE, and a fuller profile combined with a narrower head for tons of grunt with plenty of top-speed control. Once your juices are flowing, read Kevin Pritchard’s top five tips for sailing faster below — then get out on the water and hit mach-5.
Rig it Right
Rigging is one of the keys to getting your speed going fast as possible. Take the time to figure out the proper downhaul and outhaul settings - and make sure you’re using the mast the sailmaker recommends.
Keep it Steady
Moving all around and sheeting in and out isn’t fast. Keep it steady for the gusts and let that strong gust take you faster.
Absorb the bumps
Jumping is not fast, so when you see a big piece of chop coming your way, bend your knees and absorb it as best you can.
Sheet in and bear off
The key to going upwind fast is to go fast at the start, get your momentum going, then veer upwind. When you start losing too much speed, bear off the wind a little bit, sheet in, get your speed, and then take it upwind a bit.
Control is king
Just because you have the biggest sail at your beach doesn’t mean you are going to be the fastest out there. Take a sail that is suitable for the conditions and stay in control. This is way faster than getting lifted around and out of control.

The video is a POS… shows nothing and confusing….
It's just advertising.
Glad you guys like it!!
Ha! You guys are harsh… Well, of most interest to me were the closeups of the new inset clew area, the sailcloth (technora), the zippered boom cutout, and what looked to be an RDM in a pure race sail….. Not to mention some pretty sweet editing!
An ad for the gaastra vapor? ….at least it was classy.
