Yup — no foot straps. The 2010 Starboard Atom 99 windsurf board is the first shortboard designed with planing, strapless riding in mind. Is it weird? Yes. Is it fun? You bet. The extra-thick monopad with a super-soft underlayer provides tons of grip even when you’re bouncing a little bit. And yes, you can put straps on it (as shown) for a more traditional ride.

    I see how this would be cool for free move. As much fun as it is sailing waves on SUPs I wonder if wave shapes will take on this type of deck. If not blasting DTL isn't it more comfy having your feet out of the straps so you can surf the board?

    Any happy owners of this board?
