WHAT WE LIKED: Arguably the earliest planing board of the entire
fl eet, yet didn’t bounce our smaller testers off it when the wind picked
up. Got big ups for jibing, maneuverability and cozy footpads. Most
pure-freestyle-friendly board of the test.
BUYER BEWARE: Black paint on the rails scratches easily, marring
the otherwise beautiful look; was considered by some to be a touch
slower than the top speeders of the fleet.
BETTER THAN THE FLEET AT: Getting wide smiles from a wide
variety on the test team.
BEST SUITS: Almost anybody — the RRD was appreciated by
testers big, small, expert and intermediate.
OTHER HIGHLIGHTS: If you want to save some cash, try the
X-Tech Full Double Wood Sandwich construction for $1,649.
