WHAT WE LIKED: Screamin' speed machine. All testers agreed that the Mistral was one of the fastest boards in the test fleet, and that its speed was accessible even to intermediate riders. One tester remarked that it was like “riding on air.” High marks across the board for early planing and control.
BUYER BEWARE: Some testers thought it lost points on the jibe, requiring a more heavy-footed, slalom-type jibe.
BETTER THAN THE FLEET AT: Getting the most critical board tester on the team to refer to it as “flawless”; matching the Tabou for speed.
BEST SUITS: Flat-water Florida or Outer Banks blasters who want a board that eats up chop with the pedal to the metal.
OTHER HIGHLIGHTS: Lightweight Red Dot construction; 39 cm G10 Freecarve fin offers maximum sail range on the top end.
Sail Range: 5.0-8.0
Optimal Sail: 6.5
Price: $1,999
