JP-Australia 2009 X-Cite Ride 110

WHAT WE LIKED: Lickety-split quick, the X-cite ride lived up to its name by offering speed – and the sensation of speed. Earliest planing board of the small boards in the fleet. A solid, predictable performer that will leave all but the most dedicated speed freaks satisfied.

BUYER BEWARE: Testers of all skill levels remarked that it was a little difficult to handle in chop. Needed significant rider input to reach top speed – it won't get there on autopilot. Jibes well wide, but tight turns didn't come as naturally.

BETTER THAN THE FLEET AT: Offering a technical ride that really rewards solid sailing skills.

BEST SUITS: Skilled sailors looking for feedback from their board.

OTHER HIGHLIGHTS: Simple, clean graphics, multiple foot-strap positions offer more tunability. Pro Edition available at $2,123.

Sail Range: 5.0-7.5
Optimal Sail: 7.0
Price: $1,807
