This skeg was spotted by Peconic Jeff out at Montauk a few days ago. It’s called the Turbo Tunnel Fin, and there are surfers who say the thing does many wonderful things…helps maintain speed through turns, improves nose riding, provides lots of drive and so on.
So of course I’m wondering what this design would do for a windsurfer.

howd it work out?
my feeling is that the fin would be a definite "okay", vis a vis, working on a wndsrfr. we move considerably faster thru the water than surfing boards. this unit would probably work best on a freestyle board which needs "grip" after a turn or at the end of a radical change in speed or direction. its' effect on the average straight ahead Fred would probably be minimal unless s/he is starting to concentrate on freemoves or is the experimenter w/ gear. i would like to try it 'cuz back in the '80s Mistral had a OEM fin w/ "anti-cavitation ribs" on a typical dolphin swept back. that fin was good for making your board look hot otherwise it was a good conversation starter 'cuz the "split fins" were MUCH better….
Too much drag, would rip the fin box out!
