Gorge Jump Off Winners Announced

On Saturday night at Hood River’s new Waucoma Club (formerly the River City Saloon), the guys from EpicSessions and Shadowbox announced the winners from the Gorge Jump Off competition. Riders logged some extremely impressive heights over the contest period — and had some major crashes! The crowd was suitably impressed — and we think Temira Wagonfeld did the best job of explaining why: It’s old-school, big-air moves from new school riders that really know how to add some style — and have the balls to go BIG.

Without further ado, here’s the winners:

Men
Biggest Backloop: Bryan Metcalf-Perez, 32.7 feet
Biggest Forward: Whit Poor, 16.4 feet
Biggest Shove It: Bryan Metcalf-Perez, 19.6 feet
Hardest Impact: Nick Allen, 18.8 Gs
Biggest Stock Air: Whit Poor, 29.9 feet
Biggest Shaka: Bryan Metcalf-Perez, 10.4 feet
Biggest Pushloop: Whit Poor, 23.6 feet
Biggest Double Forward: Nathan Mershon, 16.6 feet
Fastest Spin Rate: Whit Poor, 587 degree/second

Women
Biggest Invert: Temira Wagonfeld, 16.6 feet
Biggest Stock Air: Ingrid Larouche, 14.2 feet

Pretty big kudos to both Whit Poor and Bryan Metcalf-Perez, who cleaned up the leaderboard. We’ve known that Whit can rip for a while, but Bryan M-P is kind of having a break-out summer. He’s got new gear, he’s sailing hard, and he basically hucks it harder than anyone around — he’s pretty much the undisputed king of big shakas and is getting awfully doggone high on his stock airs and back loops, too. Bryan, you’ve got a new nickname: Big Air Bryan.
