- Howdy Folks – Sorry for the lack of posting recently. Rest assured, Hatteras has been absolutely firing with tons of warm south wind! Signs of life are springing up all over the place...
- The last 5... 6? days have been just outrageous here on Hatteras Island. For a winter that started off sooo badly (freezing cold, not much wind, not much surf), things have really turned around in a great way!! In the last two weeks we've seen quite a few days over the 60 degree mark, and plenty of days over the 20 knot, if not 30 knot mark...
- I know you guys probably already hate me a little bit, so I'm just going to go ahead and add some fuel to the fire. Not only was Valentine's Day unseasonably warm, but it was also incredibly windy. For many windsurfers, that would be a recipe for disaster: Being late for a dinner date, while stinking of wetsuit, well, that's a tough sell on any night, let alone a romantic holiday...
- Wow, the weather in Hatteras has been all over the place this winter. We've seen snow, we've seen sunshine, and of course, lots of wind and waves. It's been too long since my last post, so rather than just laying on story after story to get you all caught up, I'm just going to put up a few pictures and videos of the latest happenings.
- Hope y'all had some great time with family and friends over the Holidays- Anne and I were all over the east coast and even got caught in that blizzard on the 26th. Good ol' fashioned white knuckle driving! It was worth it, though, to catch up with all of the fam and friends...
- Howdy folks- I just wanted to wish everyone out there "All The Best" for the Holiday Season and the approaching New Year!! I hope all's well, and I can't wait to see y'all in 2011!
- A solid northwest breeze is rattling my windows- loudly enough to pull me out of a very nice dream of summer SW winds. A quick check of the meters shows gusts to 30mph and temperatures of 38F. I guess it's officially winter! It's time to pull the thick booties out of hiding...
- To Summarize: Hatteras has been super sick the last few weeks. The biggest and coolest thing to happen was a surprise visit from a Maui Super Pro- Josh Stone!! He rolled up onto the beach at Ramp 30 and caught our last good batch of warm SW wind, in oddly summer-like conditions at the end of October...
- Who knew the end of October would provide us with classic summertime mini-shred conditions? Warm air and water temps, mild southwest winds (15-25 mph in the sound and 5-20 mph in the ocean), and waist-to-shoulder-high, peeling rights (purely wind swell).
- We've been super lucky to have crystal-clear skies and a giant, vividly bright moon for the last 4 or 5 nights straight. Daytime fun has been readily available at all hours of the night and my problem has been solved!
- I think I'll use the declarative "strong" when describing the winds on Thursday, Sept. 30. The remains of TD Nicole interacted with a little coastal weather something or other to create a pretty intense day long burst of South/Southeast winds.
- Whoooooo Baby! The Atlantic sure did turn on over the weekend. Offshore, Hurricane Igor pumped us some meaty, full-size waves, just in time for this year's installment of the Hatteras Wave Jam!
- Hey Folks! Just a quick head's up- the winds have switched to the North, and it's a beautiful thing! I snagged a quick 4.7 sesh last night with a few other guys, just ripping around at the Canadian Hole...
- Mark your calendars, folks! The 2010 Hatteras Wave Jam is being held Wednesday through Saturday, September 15-18, 2010. The main goal is to get aspiring wave sailors out into the ocean, improving your technique and self confidence, so that you can safely take your sailing to the next level...
- The Tropical Tag Team of Hurricane Danielle and TD7 and North Carolina Department of Transportation are fighting over the prized title, the grand slam, the ultimate trophy of the Outer Banks.
